Introduction

The Khopra Ridge trek is a fantastic alternative to the popular Ghorepani Trek, taking trekkers closer to the majestic Annapurna massif and offering the opportunity to mix with various communities. The journey starts with a visit to the historic World Heritage sites in Kathmandu, followed by a trip to the picturesque village of Dhampus. From there, trekkers will make their way through the beautiful city of Pokhara, passing through cultivated lands, lush Rhododendron forests, and picturesque rice paddies en route to the charming Ghandruk village. This trek offers the chance to immerse oneself in the rich culture and tradition of the local Gurung people, including a visit to a Gurung museum and the opportunity to sample traditional local cuisine. Trekkers will also pass through small forests, cross rivers on bridges, and explore lesser-known villages as they make their way.

Khopra Ridge Trek Overview

The Khopra Danda trek offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks such as Mount Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Fishtail, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal, among others. The trek begins with a 4-5 hour walk from Kimche and leads to the sacred Khayar Lake, located below Annapurna South. Khopra trek offers the opportunity to stay in community lodges, where travelers can share local meals and experience the lifestyle of the local community. The trek also includes an alpine forest, where travelers can explore the rich flora and fauna. The trek ends with a visit to the popular Pokhara city and a return trip to Kathmandu. Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to Hotel.

Upon arrival at the airport, Adventure Mountain Nepal Trekking and Climbing's representative will welcome you and take you to the hotel. You can check-in, rest and later take a stroll around the area or visit our office for information about the Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking. We will also introduce you to the trekking leader and team. Accommodation: Hotel or Resort as per your request. Meal includes: Breakfast. In general we prefer BB plan for your stay in cities so you can choose varieties of tastes in different restaurants around the city.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu/preparation for the trek.

Breakfast at hotel. Our guide will pick you up from hotel for sightseeing of World Heritage Sites. Actually there are seven World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu and we arrange sightseeing spots according to your choice, you have to choose only 3/4 spots for a day since it is not possible to visit all places in a single day – at least 2/3 days requires to have sightseeing tour of all heritage sites in Kathmandu. World Heritage Sites of UNESCO in Kathmandu are; Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swyambhunath Temple, Pashuapatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa and Changu Narayan Temple.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m/2690ft) (25minutes) and drive from Pokhara to Kimche (1640m/5380ft) (3 hours) and trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6364ft) (1 hour)

We begin our journey early in the morning with a 25-minute scenic flight to Pokhara. After landing, we take a 3-hour jeep ride to Kimche via Nayapul. From Kimche, we start a short trek to Ghandruk, ascending on stone steps through a forested path while taking in the beautiful scenery. Ghandruk is the largest Gurung village in the Annapurna region and offers an opportunity to experience the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the Gurung people. From Ghandruk, we can see stunning views of Annapurna South (7219m/23660ft) and Machhapuchhre (6993m/22940ft). We will spend the night in a lodge in Ghandruk.

Day 04: Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani (2630m/8628ft)(3 hours).

Leaving behind the beautiful Ghandruk village, today we trek to Tadapani ascending through the forested path filled with rhododendron and oak trees. Listening to the chirping of birds and relishing the view of small waterfalls and mountains like the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre (6993m), and Hiunchuli (6441m) along the way, we arrive in Tadapani, which offers stunning sunset and sunrise views. Overnight at a lodge in Tadapani.

Day 05: Trek from Tadapani to Bayali Kharka (3440 m/11,286ft) via Dobato (3420m/ 11220ft).

The trail goes through rhododendron forests and offers spectacular views of the Annapurna South and Hiunchuli peaks. The trek takes around 6-7 hours, with a steep ascent to Dobato and Bayali Kharka. Along the way, you will pass through small villages and beautiful landscapes. Spend the night at Bayali Kharka, which is a small village with limited facilities.

Day 06:Trek from Bayali Kharka to Khopra Danda (3660m/12008ft).

The trail takes you through beautiful alpine meadows and offers panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The trek takes around 6-7 hours, with a steep ascent to Khopra Danda. Along the way, you will pass through small villages, beautiful forests and possibly spot some local wildlife. Khopra Danda is a beautiful viewpoint, which offers panoramic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. Spend the night at Khopra Danda.

Day 07:Excursion to Khayar Lake (4700m/15420ft) and full-day hike around Khopra Danda (Ridge).

On Day 07, we will begin our trek early in the morning. We will start our hike from Khopra Danda, and then make our way towards Khayar Lake. The trek is expected to take around 4-5 hours, and we will take regular breaks along the way to rest and take in the beautiful mountain views. The trail is expected to be challenging with steep inclines and rocky terrain, but the view of the surrounding mountains and valleys will be worth it. Once we reach the lake, we will take some time to explore the area and take pictures before starting our descent back to Khopra Danda. After the trek, we will return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 08: Trek from Khopra Danda to Swanta (2214m/7264ft).

We will start our hike from Khopra Danda, and then make our way towards the village of Swanta. The trek is expected to take around 6-7 hours, and we will take regular breaks along the way to rest and take in the beautiful mountain views. The trail is expected to be moderate and will pass through terraced fields, dense forests, and small traditional villages. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to see the local culture and lifestyle of the villagers.

Day 09: Trek from Swanta to Ghorepani (2860m/9383ft).

Breakfast at the hotel. we will start early in the morning, from the village of Swanta and trek towards Ghorepani, expected to take 6-7 hrs. Along the way, we will pass through terraced fields, forests, and traditional villages, with an opportunity to see local culture and beautiful Rhododendron forest. Once we reach Ghorepani, we will explore the area before heading back to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 10: Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3210m/10532ft). Witness the Sunrise and panoramic Himalayan views. Hike back to Ghorepani, trek to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara.

we will wake up early in the morning for a hike to Poon Hill (3210m/10532ft). We will witness the sunrise and enjoy panoramic Himalayan views. After taking in the beautiful views, we will hike back to Ghorepani. We will return to hotel for breakfast, rest and then continue our trek to Nayapul. Then we will take ride to pokhara. We will reach there until evening and spend the remaining time at Pokhara exploring the city, lake side and shopping mall of Pokhara.

Day 11:Rest Day in Pokhara. Optional Tours

You may join different activities in Pokhara like paragliding, ultralight flight, bungee jump, and also sightseeing. Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara.

Day 12: Drive/Fly back from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Drive from Pokhara or you can take a flight as per convenience.

Day 13:Farewell, departure transfers to Tribhuvan Internationa Airport as per flight schedule.

Our airport arrival and departure representative will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your scheduled flight.

Is It difficult to trek Khopra Ridge (Khair Lake) ?

Khopra Ridge (Khair Lake) Trek falls under moderate level trekking route. Although There are numerous challenges like the rugged terrain, steep slopes, trekking route through stone stairs and continuous walking of 5 to 6 hours per day. That being said, Khopra Ridge (Khair Lake) Trek can be done by travelers who have the right attitude and are physically fit .

In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.

Trekking via the local agency is one of the great ideas for trekkers. There are more local trekking organizations in Nepal. The hard part is you need to recognize whether they are authorized businesses and are members of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).You can view their internet site and profiles commonly all legal organizations will upload their profile along with authorities-legal certificates.

Yes!! You can charge mobile phones and camera batteries during the trek. At most of the places you will get to charge for free but at some places you have to pay some amount to charge. Remember that It is always better to bring your power bank with you which will be helpful.
