Walking through the wonderful villages, following the uneven landscapes, mountain passes and the landmass covered by the Himalayas. Annapurna Circuit trek offers the breath taking panorama of sky-scraping mountains and adventurous trekking. Mt. Annapurna, itself is the world's 10th highest peak is the world's difficult mountain to climb and the most fascinating thing is to take a good look by passing through the world's highest mountain pass- Thorang La Pass.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Overview

 Beginning through the culturally well off village Chamje. The trekking route proceed with the suspension bridge across the Marsyangdi river, rice paddies and beautiful atmospheric environment. Every step forwards discloses the spectacular view of the mountains above the range of 7,000 meters. The acclimatization in Manang at the altitude of 3,551 meter said in adjusting the altitude and most importantly, it presents the view of cultivation fields with terraces, herding of yaks, culturally predominant gompas & monasteries, a view of Gangapurna lake, Gangapurna glacier resting just above the village that cannot be pass over.
Drawing a steps forward, the Annapurna circuit  trek leads to the world highest mountain pass (Thorang La Pass) from where the view of the stiking Annapurna Massif, Mt. Dhaulagauri, Mt Machhapuchhre, Mt Manaslu and many other snow-capped peaks appears like a paradise. Then the Journey aheads towards the holy temple which is regarded as the place of liberation in Hindu culture. The Jomsom area is correspondingly the wonderful place where the trekkers wish to pass through. The way back can be made through a scenic mountainous flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and a drive or flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. However, instead of flight the alternative choice of jeep dive can be made as per the trekkers’ decision.

Moving through the temple situated between Himalayas after the highest mountain pass cross render the gratification of wonderful trek along with the convenience of watching diverse culture and tradition in the dynamic mountain villages, moving through the woodlands covered with Rhododendron flower, sub-tropical forest, this trekking route has the most of the entity to offer.

This includes the Muktinath temple, which is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhist. Muktinath is one of the world's highest temples (altitude 3,800 m).
  • Getting a way back through a scenic mountainous flight from Jomsom to Pokhara adds more charm to a journey. Although it is totally optional with jeep drive.

Day by Day

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to Hotel.

Adventure Mountain Nepal Trekking and Climbing’s airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at the airport as per your arrival schedule. He/she welcomes you and drive you to the hotel. Check-in hotel and take a rest or relaxation time at Hotel. Then you can have a free excursion to know the surroundings and visit our office to get brief information of Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, we also conduct an introduction program with the trekking leader and official team. The meal includes breakfast. We prefer BB plan for your stay in cities so you can choose varieties of tastes in different restaurants around the city.

Day 02: Guided tour around world’s Heritage sites of Kathmandu.

Early morning breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will pick you up from the hotel for sightseeing of World Heritage Sites. Actually, there are seven World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu and we arrange sightseeing spots according to your choice, you have to choose only 3/4 spots for a day since it is not possible to visit all places in a single day–at least 2/3 days requires having sightseeing tour of all heritage sites in Kathmandu. World Heritage Sites of UNESCO in Kathmandu are; Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swyambhunath Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa and Changu Narayan Temple. In the evening we again can have pre-trek discussion.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Chamje (1,410m/4,626ft) via Beshisahar (823m/2,699ft).

Breakfast at hotel then drives to Chamje via Beshisahar. During our full day drive, we can view the beautiful Trishuli River, several villages, farmlands, green high hill, and Marsyangdi River along the way. We turn right from Muglin and drive towards Dumre and then head north to reach Besisahar. After Besisahar we again continue our drive to Chamje. Before the access of road of (Besisahar to Chamje), Besisahar was the starting point of Annapurna Circuit Trekking but now the transport access to Chamje making the duration shorter.

Day 04: Trek from Chamje to Dharapani (1,860m/6,100ft) (5-6 hrs walk).

After having breakfast at the tea house, we begin the trek through corn, barley and potatoes farmlands then to bamboo and rhododendron forest before reaching at the village of Tal and Karte. Beautiful village Tal is located at the base of sand beach and flat land. Continue ahead following few ups and down to Dharapani village. If we are lucky, we can encounter with few wild animals in the trail.

Day 05: Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2,713m/8,898ft) (5-6 hrs walk).

After breakfast at teahouse then we follow ascends trail through forest to the west. We walk along with the beautiful panoramic view of Mt. Annapurna II, IV (7,525/24,688ft) and of course Lamjung Himal. We cross small hot spring water to reach Chame village.

Day 06: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,185m/10,446ft altitude) (5-6 hrs walk).

Breakfast at a teahouse. Then follow a narrow path land through the dense forest that leads us to curved rock face. Pass dense forest and suspension bridge for several times over small rivers. Then follow easy trail where we are surrounded by beautiful White Mountains. After some walk we find U-shaped valley Manang which looks like hanging between two snow peaks. Continue ahead following ups and down the trail to Pisang village.

Day 07: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,551m/11,647ft altitude) (5-6 hrs walk).

Breakfast at a teahouse and start walk through Upper Pisang via Geru. We can explore magnificent Himalayan glacier throughout the trek and many snowcapped mountains. We also view Annapurna, Pisang Peak and several other snow-capped peaks. We find unique landscapes and vegetation that makes our trip even more interesting. We visit largest monastery of Manang Barge and spend overnight at Manang.

Day 08: Rest and acclimatisation at Manang.

Breakfast at hotel viewing beautiful and unique landscape of Manang. Today is the scheduled acclimatization day so we stay at Manang all day. As per health experts suggests keep moving and stay active to adopt with the weather today, we visit Bhoja Gompa / Gangapuran Lake which makes the day enjoyable. Hike to the Vraga where we find village monastery. We pay visit at that monetary and Himalayan Rescue Association where we get depth information about mountain sickness and mountain rescue.

Day 09: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m/13,484ft) (3-4 hrs walk).

After breakfast we follow ascends trail, cross stream then climb to a village Tenki which lies just above Manang. After there we follow descends trail to the Marshyangdi valley and then turn northwest up to the valley of Jarsamg Khola. Moving ahead passing a small village, few pastures and juniper trees and climb down to the small village Ghunsa. After that we cross Small River on the wooden bridges that lead us to the ancient old Mani wall. Some walk after Mani wall we climb again uphill to reach a beautiful village of Yak Kharka.

Day 10: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,600m/15,092ft) (3-4 hrs walk).

Breakfast at teahouse then we start the trek to the foot of the pass Thorong Phedi which is a small but busy settlement that provides food and shelter to trekkers and climbers. This village is said as the base camp by trekkers and climbers. Some climber trek up to high camp today but it is safe to stay here to have a sound sleep at a lower altitude than risking sleeping in the higher altitude.

Day 11: Trek from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3760m/12335ft) via Thorang Lapass(5416m/17769ft) (7-8 hrs walk).

Today we cross one of the highest passes in the world, the Thorong La Pass, which will be our main purpose today. We shall cross the pass from east to west (Manang to Muktinath) which is the easiest and safest route. We have to wake up at 3:00 am in the morning to make this journey which is totally worth it when you get to the top. We rest for a while, take some beautiful pictures and then head to Muktinath Valley that lies at the foot of the Thorong La Pass. We spend the night at Muktinath.

Day 12: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,730m/8,954ft) (3-4 hrs walk).

An important pilgrimage destination for both Hindus and Buddhists, Muktinath is a power place. Here you can visit the Muktinath temple aspeople have done from the world over. We continue our trek and visit fresh water sprouts channeled from streams from above the temple. Here we get fantastic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri. If you are a fossil collector, this is the place you can procure fossilized mollusks, called “Shaligram”, to keep as a souvenir. We pass through meadows, streams and hills over to Kagbeni, where there is a monastery and many, many chortens (memorial stupas). After lunch we continue to Jomsom through the Kali Gandaki Valley. We spend the Night at Jomsom.

Day 13: Fly to Pokhara. Sightseeing, boating or free for any other personal activities.

We take a morning flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. Once we reach at the beautiful lake city Pokhara, a full day feel free to have personal activities, know the surroundings, rest and relaxation, boating at Fewa Lake, etc.

Day 14: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive/fly to Kathmandu. Remaining time is to feel free for leisure and personal activities such as Shopping, markets explore, spa, massage, rest and relax can be an option. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner together with an entire team of Adventure Mountain Nepal.

Day 15: Farewell, departure transfer to Airport as per flight schedule.

Our airport arrival and departure representative will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your scheduled flight.

Is It difficult to trek Annapurna Circuit ?

Annapurna Circuit Trek is a strenuous trekking route. Although There are numerous challenges like the rugged terrain, steep slopes, trekking route through stone stairs and continuous walking of 5 to 6 hours per day. That being said, Annapurna Circuit Trek is doable and can be undertaken by travelers who have the right attitude and are physically fit .

Which is the prime time for Annapurna Circuit Trek ?

The prime time for trekking Annapurna Circuit is during Spring (March, April and May) and Autumn (October and November). During these seasons the weather will be clear, you will get long sunlight hours, fewer bugs, flowers will bloom on the way, the charm of the atmosphere can be felt by the heart, magnificent views of the Himalayas can be seen and you can escape the crowd and enjoy the pleasure of trekking.

Do I need to have Travel Insurance during Trek ?

Yes!! It is recommended to have travel insurance during the trek. It is uncertain that you will not feel sick or get into any accidents during the trek. So, for medical emergencies and as precaution against risks and financial losses that could happen while traveling, insurance is best.

Should I manage the equipment/accessories for trekking by myself ?

Do we need oxygen on Annapurna Circuit Trek ?

We will start our trek from Chamje (1,410m/4,626ft) and ascend up to Thorong Phedi (4,600m/15,092ft). We have created Itinerary in proportion to proper accommodation so normally we don’t need oxygen on this trek. In case of altitude sickness we will descend immediately. If any altitude sickness symptoms are seen then we provide Diamox as a medication.

What if I cancel the trip , do I get my refund ?

What is the Accommodation Like ?

Due to the advancement of the trekking industry, we can find enough lodges and tea houses throughout Annapurna Region trekking routes. They offer good food and accommodation. There are different options you can choose according to your needs and budget. Also you should know that at high altitude places like Thorong Phedi the service will be limited.

Is the Internet accessible during Annapurna Circuit Trek ?

Yes!! The Internet is accessible during the Annapurna Circuit Trek. You can access the 3G network on mobile phones. The mobile internet is fast enough to browse and even make video calls. You will get continuous signal during the whole trek but there will be certain dark spots along the trek where connection may drop. There are limited WiFi hotspots during the trek which will charge for usage only some will let you use it for free. So, for internet access we recommend you to buy a SIM and use 3G.

What about altitude Sickness ?

Normally, Within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height(1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, loss of energy, and shortness of breath are seen. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.

How to select a local agency for trekking ?

Trekking via the local agency is one of the great ideas for trekkers. There are more local trekking organizations in Nepal. The hard part is you need to recognize whether they are authorized businesses and are members of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).You can view their internet site and profiles commonly all legal organizations will upload their profile along with authorities-legal certificates.

Can I charge my mobile phones and camera batteries during the trek ?

Yes!! You can charge mobile phones and camera batteries during the trek. At most of the places you will get to charge for free but at some places you have to pay some amount to charge. Remember that It is always better to bring your power bank with you which will be helpful.

What are the permits required for Annapurna Circuit Trek ?

The permits required for Annapurna Circuit Trek are:

How long will it take to trek Annapurna Circuit ?

According to the standard itinerary our Annapurna Circuit trek is of 15 days from your arrival to Kathmandu to farewell at Airport. Normally on the 10th day of trek we will reach the Thorong Phedi which is at the altitude of (4,600m/15,092ft) from sea level, highest altitude you will be during the trek and descend back. If you wish to amend the itinerary you have to contact our booking manager he will prepare the itinerary according to your needs.
