Annapurna Base Camp(ABC) Trek is one of the most popular walks on earth, surrounded by spectacular high peaks over 7,000 to 8,000 meters. ABC trek allows travelers to approach and capture the close-up breath taking view of Mt Annapurna, Mt Machapuchare, Mt Gangapurna and Mt Hiunchuli. This trip is a blend of diverse landscapes, dense forest, high mountains panorama, wide varities of flora and fauna, cultures, communities and lifestyle. Our trip traverse through amazing Mt. Machapuchare Base Camp(MBC), Ghandruk, Pokhara, Dhovan, Jhinu hot spring reaching the highest elevation of ABC(4,130m/13,546ft).

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Overview

Driving ahead from Pokhara to Nayapul leads towards the most popular and charming village named Ghandruk . Ghandruk is situated between mystic peaks- Mt Annapurna, Mt Machapuchare, Mt Gangapurna and Mt Hiunchuli . The Gurung communities are the residents of Ghandruk village. The travellers get to understand the diverse in Nepali culture throughout the way. Especially the Gurungs and Magar's lifestyle, and cultural background.

Hike from Ghandruk by crossing various river bridges, uneven landscapes between the snow-capped mountains that passes through Chhomrong and Dobhan. Thee travellers gets to encounter fern, oak, bamboo, rhododendron forest; the wondrous flora and fauna which enhance of mountainous land. The base camp of Annapurna (10th highest peak of world) is the Marvellous location to catch a sight of the spectacular Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Machapuchhre (6993 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m) and numerous peaks above the height of 6000 meters.

Descend towards the Jhinu hot spring through Sinuwa to relax the muscles from naturaltherapeutic hot bath. Hot Spring is Located at the river bank of ModiKhola. After sightseeing at the beautiful Pokhara we make a way to Kathmandu which adds more amusement in the way forward. Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to Hotel.

Adventure Mountain Nepal Trekking and Climbing’s airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at the airport as per your arrival schedule. He/she welcomes you and drive you to the hotel. Check-in hotel and take a rest or relaxation time at Hotel. Then you can have a free excursion to know the surroundings and visit our office to get brief information of Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, we also conduct an introduction program with the trekking leader and official team. The meal includes breakfast. We prefer BB plan for your stay in cities so you can choose varieties of tastes in different restaurants around the city.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu/preparation for the trek.

Breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will pick you up from the hotel for sightseeing of World Heritage Sites. Actually, there are seven World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu and we arrange sightseeing spots according to your choice, choose only 3/4 spots for a day since it is not possible to visit all places in a single day–at least 2/3 days required to have a sightseeing tour of all heritage sites in Kathmandu. World Heritage Sites of UNESCO in Kathmandu are; Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swyambhunath Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa and Changu Narayan Temple.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara (5-6 hrs drive or 25 minutes flight), transfer to hotel at LakeSide.

Early breakfast at the hotel. Drive/ Fly to Pokhara. While driving on a bus it takes 5-6 hours via Prithivi Highway where you can see the beautiful Trishui River, Dense green forests, many green hills and several village settlements on the way. And if you choose airway, it only takes 25 minutes. Check-in hotel with welcome drinks. In the evening rest at Hotel or know the surrounding around lakeside Pokhara.

Day 04: Drive Ghandruk (2,012 m/6,601 ft)(2-3 hr Drive) & Trek to Chhomrong (2340m/7675ft) (2-3 hrs drive) (5-6 hrs walk).

After having breakfast, start a day with medium climb moving uphills and downhills. Enjoy the wonderful view offered by Ghandruk across to Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare. Aftere walking almost 6 hours, we will reach to Chhomrong and stay there overnight.

Day 05: Trek from Chhomrong to Dobhan (2,600m/8,528ft) (5-6 hrs walk).

Breakfast at Tea House. Today we follow the trail descending to the Chhomrong Khola and leads to Sunawa hills. When we finish Sunawa hills immediately we start following Upper Modi Valley. We make a lunch break at Upper Modi and continue downhill all the way to Dobhan.

Day 06: Trek from Dobhan to Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700m/12,136ft ) (5-6 hrs walk).

Breakfast at the teahouse. Our interesting day walk starts by following narrow Modi Valley. All the way to Machhapuchre Base Camp we explore rugged hills, cascading waterfalls, and majestic views of Mountains. Today we ascend over a thousand meters altitude, it might be tough for a few trekkers thus we can also stay at Deurali which is on the way to Machhapuchre Base Camp, 1-2 hours before reaching Machhapuchre Base Camp.

Day 07: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,546ft) (1 hr walk). Full day excursion and overnight stay.

Breakfast at a teahouse. Today follow ascends trial. After walking 2-3 hours to we reach Annapurna Base Camp. The climate is often cold, windy and snow bond around the Base Camp. We see amazing roofless Sherpa Huts on the way. Once we reach Annapurna Base Camp, it feels feel like we reach Heaven with splendid sceneries. Spend a memorable time at Annapurna Base Camp by capturing the Annapurna’s beauty and spending a quality time overnight.

Day 08: Trek down to Sinuwa (2340m/7,677 ft)(5-6 hrs walk).

Breakfast at teahouse. We will trek down to Komrong Khola and climb up to Chhomrong, a big beautiful village. Then, we will trek down to the river and climb again to Sinuwa. Stay overnight at lodge with wonderful mountain view.

Day 09: Trek to Jhinu hot spring, take natural hot shower, rest and relax. (3 hrs walk).

Breakfast at teahouse. Relax at Jhinu Hotspring, a natural hotspring where a traveller relaxes to relieve their exhaustion after tiring walk. Then, spend a time relaxing with nature and at a lodge nearby.

Day 10: Trek down to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara.

After breakfast, we descend until we reach Syauli Bazaar. After there, we can catch a vehicle to Pokhara or continue an easy and scenic straight trail all the way to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara.

Day 11: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive/fly to Kathmandu. The remaining time is to feel free for leisure and personal activities such as Shopping, markets explore, spa, massage, rest and relax can be an option. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner together with the entire team of Adventure Mountain Nepal.

Day 12: Free exploration day.

On this day, feel free for leisure and personal activities such as Shopping, markets explore, spa, massage, rest and relax can be an option. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner together with the entire team of Adventure Mountain Nepal.

Day 13: Farewell, departure transfers to Tribhuvan International Airport as per flight schedule.

Our airport arrival and departure representative will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your scheduled flight. Fly to your home with a wonderful memory of Nepal.

Is It difficult to trek Annapurna Base Camp ?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate level of trekking route. Although There are numerous challenges like the rugged terrain, steep slopes, trekking route through stone stairs and continuous walking of 5 to 6 hours per day. That being said, the trek to Annapurna Base Camp Trek is doable and can be undertaken by travelers who have the right attitude and are physically fit .

Which is the prime time for Annapurna Base Camp Trek ?

The prime time for trekking Annapurna Base Camp is during Spring (March, April and May) and Autumn (October and November). During these seasons the weather will be clear, you will get long sunlight hours, fewer bugs, flowers will bloom on the way, the charm of the atmosphere can be felt by the heart, magnificent views of the Himalayas can be seen and you can escape the crowd and enjoy the pleasure of trekking.

Do I need to have Travel Insurance during Trek ?

Yes!! It is recommended to have travel insurance during the trek. It is uncertain that you will not feel sick or get into any accidents during the trek. So, for medical emergencies or as precaution against risks and financial losses that could happen while traveling, insurance is best.

Should I manage the equipment/accessories for trekking by myself ?

What is the Accommodation Like ?

Due to the advancement of the trekking industry, we can find enough lodges and tea houses throughout Annapurna Region trekking routes. They offer good food and accommodation. There are different options you can choose according to your needs and budget. Also you should know that at high altitude places like Gorakshep the service will be limited.

Is the Internet accessible during Annapurna Base Camp trek ?

Yes!! The Internet is accessible during the Annapurna Base Camp trek. You can access the 3G network on mobile phones. The mobile internet is fast enough to browse and even make video calls. You will get continuous signal during the whole trek but there will be certain dark spots along the trek where connection may drop. There are limited WiFi hotspots during the trek which will charge for usage only some will let you use it for free. So, for internet access we recommend you to buy a SIM and use 3G.

What about altitude Sickness ?

Normally, Within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height(1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, loss of energy, and shortness of breath are seen. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.

How to select a local agency for trekking ?

Trekking via the local agency is one of the great ideas for trekkers. There are more local trekking organizations in Nepal. The hard part is you need to recognize whether they are authorized businesses and are members of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).You can view their internet site and profiles commonly all legal organizations will upload their profile along with authorities-legal certificates.

Can I charge my mobile phones and camera batteries during the trek ?

Yes!! You can charge mobile phones and camera batteries during the trek. At most of the places you will get to charge for free but at some places you have to pay some amount to charge. Remember that It is always better to bring your power bank with you which will be helpful.

What are the permits required for Annapurna Base Camp Trek ?

The permits required for Annapurna Base Camp Trek are:

How long will it take to trek to Annapurna Base Camp ?

According to the standard itinerary our Annapurna Base Camp trek is of 13 days from your arrival to Kathmandu to farewell at Airport. Normally on the 7th day of trek we will reach the base camp of Mt. Annapurna I which is at the altitude of (4,130m/13,546ft) from sea level. You will have time for a full day excursion and overnight stay at ABC. If you wish to amend the itinerary you have to contact our booking manager he will prepare the itinerary according to your needs.

Do we need oxygen on Annapurna Base Camp Trek ?

We will start our trek from Ghandruk (1940m/6363ft) and ascend up to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,546ft). We have created Itinerary in proportion to proper accommodation so normally we don’t need oxygen on this trek. In case of altitude sickness we will descend immediately. If any altitude sickness symptoms are seen then we provide Diamox as a medication.
