Introduction

A cultural trekking of Kalinchowk can be considered as a less touristic trekking trail of eastern Nepal. It is easily accessible from capital city Kathmandu. Contains massive cultural and natural significant, the number of explorer increasing day by day. Impressive views of Himalayas from the hill station can easily draw trekker’s attention there. The impressive close up views of Himalayas are; Mt. Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Jugal Himal, Gauri Shankar, Shisha Pangma and numerous other snowcapped peaks. Along the trail of Kalinchowk Trekking we explore beautiful cultural villages mainly inhabited by Tamang, Sherpa, Bramhin & Chhetries, and walk across dense forests of Rhododendron trees and lush alpine valleys, sometime we can have chance to encounter with our national bird Pheasant which is better called Danphe in Nepali language.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to Hotel.

As soon as you arrive at Kathmandu, you will be taken to the Hotel of your choice and you will be given breakfast. They usually prefer BB Plan for your stay in cities as you can select varieties of tastes in various restaurants across the city.

Day 02: Guided tour around world’s Heritage sites of Kathmandu.

We will take you for a tour to world’s Heritage sites of Kathmandu with hotel accommodation and the meal includes Full Board as above.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Barabise (819m/2,686ft) (4-5 hrs Drive) (Full Board Tea House available).

This day we will take you for a drive to Barabise at 2686 ft height which is 4 to 5 hrs drive. They will be providing Tea House Accommodation and Full Board Meal.

Day 04: Trek from Barabise to Ahgeri Kharka (1,035m/3,394ft) (4-5 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

Trekking starts from Barabise to Ahgeri Kharka at 3394 ft height which is 4 to 5 hrs walk with tented camp accommodation and full board meal.

Day 05: Trek from Ahgeri Kharka to Biku Gompa (2,310m/7,576ft) (5-6 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

We continue with our trek to Biku Gompa at 7576 ft altitude which is 5 to 6 hrs walk and resting in the tented camps with full board meal.

Day 06: Trek from Biku Gompa to Shigate (2,654m/8,705ft) (5-6 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

Further you trek from Biku Gompa to Shigate at 8705 ft altitude and walk for almost 5 to 6 hrs and stay in tented camps with full board meal.

Day 07: Rest & acclimatization. Free exploration around Shigate (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

This day you will be allowed to go around Shigate and explore the place with rest at tented camps and full board meals.

Day 08: Trek from Shigate to Junggepati (2,980m/9,774ft altitude) (5-6 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

From,

Day 09: Trek from Junggepati to Kali Pokhari (3,210m/10,528ft) (4-5 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

Further trek to Kali Pokhari 10528 ft altitude needs 4 to 5 hrs walk and here you will be given again tented camps for resting with full board meals.

Day 10: Trek from Kali Pokhari to Kalinchok Temple (3,790m/12,431ft) (5-6 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps).

Again, from Kali Pokhan to Kalinchok Temple at 12421 ft height you will be trekking for 5 to 6 hrs walk with tented camp accommodation and full board meal.

Day 11: Trek from Kalinchok than to Charikot Bazaar (1,554m/5,097ft) (4-5 hrs walk) (Full Board Tea House available).

Continue to trek to Charikot Bazaar at 5097 ft for 4 to 5 hrs walk and then rest at tented camps and will be provided with full board meal.

Day 12: Drive from Charikot back to Kathmandu (5-6 hrs drive). ( Breakfast Hotel/Resort)

By starting from Charikot you will be taken back to Kathmandu which takes about 5 to 6 hrs drive and place you in the hotel providing breakfast as well.

Day 13: Spare day. Free for personal activities or additional activities on request.

This day will be a spare day and you can do some personal activities and rest in the hotel and you will be provided half board meal.

Day 14: Final departure. Drop to airport as per flight schedule.

You will be given farewell and shift you to Tribhuvan International Airport and they will also provide you well breakfast too.

Kalinchowk Trekking is considered as a moderate trek. There are numerous challenges like the rugged terrain, steep slopes, trekking route through stone stairs and continuous walk of 5 to 6 hours per day. That being said, Kalinchowk Trekking can be done by travelers who are physically fit.

Which is the best season for Kalinchowk Trekking ?

The best season for Kalinchowk Trekking is during Spring (March, April and May) and Autumn (October and November). During these seasons the weather will be clear, you will get long sunlight hours, fewer bugs, flowers will bloom on the way, the charm of the atmosphere can be felt by the heart, magnificent views of the Himalayas can be seen and you can escape the crowd and enjoy the pleasure of trekking.

What about altitude Sickness ?

Normally, Within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height(1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, loss of energy, and shortness of breath are seen. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.

How to select a local agency for trekking?

Trekking via the local agency is one of the great ideas for trekkers. There are more local trekking organizations in Nepal. The hard part is you need to recognize whether they are authorized businesses and are members of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).You can view their internet site and profiles commonly all legal organizations will upload their profile along with authorities-legal certificates.

What is the Accommodation Like ?
