Introduction

Mt. Ama Dablam Expedition, is the toughest and highly technical mountain to climb in the Everest region of Nepal. The word Ama Dablam denotes Ama (mother) & Dablam (necklace), which means Mother’s Necklace has two separate peaks; one is the main peak 6812m and the lower western peak at 6170 meters. Even the trekkers of Everest Base Camp and Kala Patther can feel from their trail Mt. Ama Dablam dominates the blue sky. The mount Ama Dablam is less in altitude than Mt. Everest (8848m), takes a few days than Everest Expedition but comparatively it is a most technical and difficult mountain to climb where one has to cross challenging ice rocks, snow walls, and sleepy narrow steeps.

Before go to Ama Dablam Expedition, our suggestion would climb Nepal’s popular trekking peak “Island Peak” as a warm-up climb which helps to re-generate physical strength, ability to climb, adjust with altitude and familiar to use climbing gears.

Ama Dablam Expedition via Island Peak Overview

Officially regulated day-to-day itinerary 30 days Ama Dablam Expedition via Island Peak Climbing adventure package trip with Adventure Mountain Nepal Trekking and Climbing Pvt. Ltd begins after spending a day sightseeing tour plus climbing preparation in Kathmandu. We start our pre-climbing trek via the same trail of EBC & Kala Patthar Trek up to the place called Dingboche, then our trail splits out towards beautiful Chhukung Valley. Before continuing the trail to Ama Dablam Base Camp we make a warm-up climb of Island Peak (6189m) followed by Stunning views of the world’s popular mountain ranges including Mt Everest, Mt Nuptse, Mt Lhotse, Mt Baruntse, Amadablam, and many other snowcapped peaks.

 

After there, we continue our journey towards Mt. Ama Dablam Base Camp. Above the base camp, we have to set up 3 additional camps to reach the top. Our gradual adventure effort through difficult saddle ridges, cross the rocky bowls, climb the ridge via fixed lines, severe rocks and ridges take us to reach Ama Dablam Camp III. While continuing our adventure climb after there we need to make a steeper climb through the rock, ice and snows of the massive hanging glacier. Once we reach the top, we will be rewarded with outstanding views of Mt. Everest 8848m, Lhotse 8516m, Makalu 8463m, Nuptse 7861m, Pumori 7161m and many more snowcapped peaks. After gaining lifetime experience of the Ama Dablam Expedition via Island Peak, we will retrace our steeps and safely back to Kathmandu to conclude the lifetime adventure experience in Nepal with Adventure Mountain Nepal Trekking and Climbing Team.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to hotel.

Land in Kathmandu International Airport and transfer to the hotel or resort by our tour representative. Overnight stay in Kathmandu. Relax.

Day 02: Guided tour to Kathmandu’s World Heritage sites.

Spend the day on the guided tour to Kathmandu. Kathmandu is the social and historical heart of Nepal. Visit its world’s heritage sites like Bauddhanath, the Tibetan Buddhist landmark, and Pashupatinath and other sites. Additionally, meander through city bazaar to purchase some customary items of Nepal.

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu – Lukla (2,800m/9,184ft) and trek to Phakding (2,650m/8692ft).

Early morning transfer to Kathmandu airport terminal, a 30-minute mesmerizing flight. Land at Lukla airport (2800m). Start your trek to Phakding (2652m.) and stroll for around over two to three hrs. While trekking, you head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a trail to Phakding (2652m).

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft).

This day you will cross the rivers on high suspension bridges. Past Monjo (2800m.) reach to the passageway to the Sagarmatha National Park. You at that point climb steeply to Namche. You can likewise visit few of the village monasteries in transit trekking to Namche Bazaar (3440 m).

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar and sightseeing of the location.

Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,867m/12,684ft).

From Namche, the trail shapes around the edge of the valley, high over the Dudh Kosi. Going through a few towns the trail plunges steeply to an extension over the waterway Dudh Koshi at Phunki Tenga (3250m). The village has a fantastic place for lunch and you can take a rest for some time before making the precarious move to Tyangboche. Reach Tyangboche and visit the biggest monastery of Khumbu district.

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,358m/14,294ft).

Go down through a woodland, cross the Imja Khola and climb consistently up to the Pangboche village. Have outstanding scenes of the mountain, with scattered pine trees and the Gompa, Mani walks in the forefront. Progressively raise the trail via thick forests loaded with thorny, juniper bushes. Reach Dingboche.

Day 08: Trek from Dingboche to Island Peak Base Camp (5,087m/16,685ft).

Today trail slowly climbs up to the Chhukung. Alongside, you appreciate the wonderful mountain panoramas in and around the valley.

Day 09: Hike to Island Peak (6,189m/20,299ft) and back to Chhukung.

Today climb the Island peak and go to base camp arranged on a vast green meadow with magnificent perspectives. In transit, you can appreciate the all-encompassing perspectives of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Island Peak, Lhotse, and numerous others mountains. Then trail back to Chukhung.

Day 10: Trek from Chhukung to Mt. Ama Dablam Base Camp via Dingboche (4,800m/15,744ft).

You trek on a slow rising way toward Mt. Ama Dablam base camp going from en-route Dingboche. The trail to Dingboche began off generally flat in the beginning route, and afterward, we began progressing downhill. The view changes significantly with each progression toward Mt. Ama Dablam.

Day 11 - 24: Trek to Summit Mt. Amadablam and back to Base Camp (6,812m/22,343ft).

Camp One (5700m/18,800ft) 5hrs: Your first genuine camp starts with just one and a half hours stroll to Camp I. This trail is set apart due to rock hopping on rock cairns. Camp Two (5950m/19,521ft)-3hrs.: After that start your hike to Camp II. You go by a narrow ridge. This path majorly includes rock climbing. In places the presentation is extraordinary and you will be using the settled ropes. Great rock climbing skills will enable you to move rapidly and efficiently in this territory. Reach over the Yellow Tower on a narrow place, this campground is somewhat uncovered and has incredible scenes. Camp Three (6200/20,341ft)-2hrs.: Afterwards, the trek starts toward Camp III. You will experience the hardest ice pitches and snow on the way. Take the path of ice crevasses and steep snow up to join a place called the Mushroom Ridge. Enjoy the magnificent sight of Himalayan peaks all around. Land on a small plateau at 6300 m. Summit (6812M/22349ft)-10 hrs.: The initial climb is to one side of the gigantic ice cliff “Dablam“, up to a steep slope. Following a few extreme hours, we reach the summit (6856 m). The summit is a vast spot and gives us the chance to move around and take pictures of the stunning landscape all around. Here five of the world’s six most noteworthy peaks are clearly noticeable, with numerous other 7000m and lesser pinnacles in between. After completing our successful climb of Ama Dablam till the summit, we will head back to the base camp.

Day 25: Trek from Base Camp to Tengboche.

Today we will begin our trail back to Tengboche. In transit to Tengboche through rhododendron forest, you can enjoy the company of monks, traders, and other trekkers.

Day 26: Trek from Tengboche to Monjo via Namche Bazaar (2,835m/9,299ft).

Today the trek will be demanding after you pass an area called Monjo through Namche. There are many little ascend and descend before Monjo. In Namche, you can have a relishing food.

Day 27: Trek back to Lukla.

We climb from Namche by again crossing bridges and returning to the valleys of the lower Dudh Kosi. Arrival at Lukla

DAY 28: Flight back to Kathmandu.

Head to Lukla airport for the flight to Kathmandu. Arrival at Kathmandu. Our tour representative will transfer you to the hotel or resort. Day to unwind.

Day 29: Free day.

Today is free for personal activities. Or our tour representative can help you to customize additional city tour.

Day 30: Final departure. Drop to airport as per flight schedule.

after breakfast transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Way back to home with lifetime memories of your adventure.

1. Altitude Sickness/Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

Normally, within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height (1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like fatigue, loss of appetite, dizziness, sleep problems, shortness of breath, and loss of energy can be seen. The main reason for altitude sickness is rapid ascending to high altitude. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will descend immediately for acclimatization and apply medication.

 

Measures for preventing and treating Acute Mountain Sickness:

  • Avoid rapid traveling to high altitude.
  • In case of any symptoms stop and rest where you are for at least 24 to 48 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise.
  • If you feel sick, take an anti-sickness medicine, such as promethazine/diamox.
  • Make sure you're drinking adequate amount of water.
  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
  • Eat light but high in calorie diet food.
