Langtang Valley with Ganja la pass Overview

Step forward towards Lama Hotel making a way through the greenery of farmland, Rhododendron forest, various river bridges and water streams. The atmospheric glory increases as the step is taken forward and the flapping of prayers flag, chirping of birds welcomes traveller at the famous Langtang villages. Langtang village is mostly inhabited by Tamang culture. Explore the culture and traditions of Tamang people- the way of living, numerous arts and crafts influenced by Tamang society. The popular and ancient Kyangjin Gompa and cheese factory is one of attraction at this site. Hike towards Tsergo Ri (5033m) unfolding the charm of the immense mountains and snow-capped peaks such as- Naya Kanga (5,846m), Ponggen Dopku (5,930m), Mt. Langtang Lirung (7245m), Yala peak, Dorje Lakpa(6966m), Urkeinmang(6387m), Loenpo Gang (6979) and Kangchenpo. Cross Langtang River, then walk through the wilderness of Ganja La pass (5122m) and admire the beauty of hills, mountains and numerous snowy peaks from every corner. This pass adjoins with Helambu and takes towards the popular Sherpa villages namely: Keldang,Yak Kharka, Sermathang and many small settlements influenced by Tibetan culture, arts, crafts and lifestyle.

Capture the beauty of raring of sheep. Visit the old Buddhist monasteries, get welcomed to experience Sherpa culture and enjoy the moment. Passing through eye catching water streams, trek ends at Malemchi Pul Bazaar and a drive is made towards Kathmandu. Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,340m/4396ft).

Once you arrive at the airport in Kathmandu, our team transfers you to a resort or hotel. Accommodation: Hotel or Resort as per your request. Meal includes: Breakfast. We prefer BB plan for your stay in cities so you can choose varieties of tastes in different restaurants around the city.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing-World Heritage Sites.

Today, we will explore the Kathmandu City and thereby, view a few landmarks or worldwide heritage sites, including the Pashupati Nath Temple, Monkey Temple and other heritage sites with Hindu and Buddhist Shrines.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5085ft) (7 hrs drive).

We will experience our drive across the north-western hills in Kathmandu, explore the stunning views of Himalayan mountains, rustic villages and terraced fields, while descend in the downward direction to reach Syabru Besi.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7808ft) (5 hrs walk).

On our first day of the trekking, we will go nearby the Langtang Khola River and pass from dense forests, while cross many suspension bridges to reach at the Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3,430m/11253ft) (5/6 hrs walk).

We will continue with our trekking trail via dense forests and by making a steep climb through the entire valley, we get marvelous views of the famous Langtang Lirung and pass the nearby Langtang village.

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/12696ft) (3/4 hrs walk).

We start with our trek to reach to Kyanjin Gompa, the principal monastery found in this region. Moreover, you will find many water mills, chortens, prayer wheels and sacred mounds of mountain rocks with carved inscriptions over them.

Day 07: Excursion to Tsergo Ri (5033m/16512m) and back to Kyanjin Gompa (7/8 hrs walk).

We move out from the village and pass on via yak pastures to visit Tsergo Ri and thereby, get views of the mountain sunrise. During afternoon, we will return to Himalayan region’s Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 08: Trek to Ganja La Phedi (4300m/14107ft) (3/4 hrs walk).

We will embark on our today’s trek to reach at Ganja La phedi by crossing the nearby Langtang River, while ascend via rhododendron forests.

Day 09: Cross the Ganja La pass (5122m/16804ft) Trek to Keldang (4250m/13943ft) (6/7 hrs walk).

Today, our team will cross a difficult Ganja La Pass, which remains covered with snow for the whole year. You will go for long ascents via boulders, small lakes and reach at the summit of Ganja La Pass located on the rock moraine. By climbing upward and downward the mountain pass, you will descend towards Keldang.

Day 10: Trek to Yak Kharka (4000m/43055ft) (6/7 hrs walk).

Starting from Keldang, we will descend downward to follow a prominent ridge line to reach at Yak Kharka.

Day 11: Trek to Tarke Gyang (2,590m/8497ft) (5/6 hrs walk).

Today, we will further descend downward to reach at Tarke Ghyang.

Day 12: Trek to Tarke Gyang (2,590m/8497ft) (5/6 hrs walk).

Starting from Tarke Gyang, our team will take you to get views of Sermathang.

Day 13: Trek to Malemchi Pul Bazaar and Drive to Kathmandu (3/4 hrs walk) (2 hrs drive).

We will wind up our trek by moving down to the Malemchi Pul Bazaar surrounding a large number of Sherpa villages. From here, we will take a reverse drive to reach at Kathmandu.

Day 14: Final Departure.

We give you farewell and then, drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

What about altitude Sickness ?

Normally, Within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height(1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, loss of energy, and shortness of breath are seen. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.
