Introduction

Mount Mera peak climbing is the highest trekking peak of Nepal categorized by NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association). Mt. Mera is an adventure trekking peak in Nepal. It stands in the Mahalangur section of the Everest region. There are three different faces of the Mera Peak. Mera north face at 6,476m/21,247ft altitude, the central face at 6,461m/21,198ft altitude, and the South face at 6,065m/19,898ft altitude. The popular one is Mera central Peak while rest of the faces are not popular. Col. Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing made the first climbing of Mera peak 6,461m/21,198ft on 20th May 1953AD. The highlights of this trek include the clear visibility of five major world’s highest mountains (above 8,000m/26,240ft from sea level); Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), Mt. Makalu (8,481m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and many other snowcapped high mountains.

Mera Peak lies in the Makalu Barun park on the border of the Khumbu region. At 6476m it's the very best of the Nepal Trekking Peaks, and commands one among the simplest viewpoints in Nepal. there are panoramic views taking in, among others, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyo, Kanchenjunga, Ama Dablam, Chamlang and Baruntse. Climbers will use crampons to form the ascent, carry an extended ice axe for support, and use rope as a guide across the glacier on summit day. First-time users of those aids will be instructed of their use below base camp. The ascent from the Mera La is gradual and sustained, before reaching a brief, but straightforward climb up a 40-degree slope to Mera’s central summit. Note that the marginally higher North Summit is presently heavily crevassed and expeditions currently head for the Central Summit nearby (6461m).

Trip Highlights:

  • Mera Peak height is 6,476 meters which falls under the highest 'trekking peaks'.
  • Aerial views of world’s most admired mountains; Mount Everest,
Nuptse, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Amadablam and many other snowcapped
    peaks.
  • Walk across the Himalayas through Sherpa cultural villages, Buddhist monasteries, mountain glaciers, flora and fauna.

an entrance and exit point of entire Everest region’s activities.

Great Trip We had a great time in Nepal thanks to Pradip and his team! From landing to take off we were thoroughly looked after. We were greeted at the airport and the same person helped us in Katmandu both sides of the trek, picking us up from our domestic flight and again taking us to the airport at the end. He was always early and received a sweet momento on arrival and departure. Due to weather we unfortunately had to make a last minute decision to change our route; Pradip and the guide See Wa were very accommodating and we easily changed from ACT to Poon Hill and ABC. He quickly sent us a new itinerary and we were picked up the following morning. We were given options as to how we wanted to get to Pokhara and Pradip made this seamless for us. Many trekkers also had to change their route to ABC rather than other routes like ACT and EBC which meant the tea houses were very busy. Our guide ensured that we always had a room to stay in and was flexible with our itinerary if we wanted to walk further/fit in a visit to the hot spring. At times it was a bit difficult to communicate with the guide due to the language barrier and we found we were fitter so would often be walking ahead with one of the porters but over all we had a good experience and would recommend.
