Introduction

Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek offers a new route pristine route to  Dhaulagiri south Base camp at the elevation of 4050m, is a less difficult level trekking route in the Dhaulagiri region. Spectacular views of the Dhaulagiri range, Annapurna range, Churen Himal, and Nilgiri can be observed during this journey, and a major highlight of this trek is Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167m, the seventh highest mountain in the world.

Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trekking is the less challenging, adventurous, and shorter version of Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking full camping treks in Nepal, exploring remote valleys, glaciers, and agricultural farmlands as well as dramatic sceneries of many peaks above 7,000m from sea level.

This trek is especially suitable for those trekkers who have previous experience of trekking and good physical condition for walking through snow ridges and high valleys, in some high snow paved places there might need to use climbing gear thus would also be better to have a little bit knowledge about climbing gears as well.

From the high passes and valleys during our Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trekking, we can have very close views of Dhaulagiri I (8,167m), Dhaulagiri II (7,751m), Dhaulagiri IV (7,618m), Tukuche Peak (6,920m), Mukut Himal, Sita Chuchura, Tashi Kang, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Dhampus Peak, and many more snow-capped ranges.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to Hotel.

Once you arrive at the international airport of Kathmandu in Nepal and complete your custom formalities, we take you to your chosen hotel or resort. We prefer BB plan for your stay in cities so you can choose varieties of tastes in different restaurants around the city

Day 02: Guided tour around world’s Heritage sites of Kathmandu.

Our team will take you for the sightseeing tour to various memorable tourists spots listed under UNESCO Heritage Tour. The journey begins with your visit to the holy temple of Nepal named Pashupatinath Temple and then to the biggest Bouddhanath Stupa and the famous Monkey Temple

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m/2,689ft).

Today, we will go for a drive from Kathmandu and follow the Prithvi Highway to reach Pokhara. During our journey, you will find scenic views of the Marsyandi and Trishuli rivers.

Day 04: Drive from Pokhara to Jhi (1,680m/2,688ft) via Beni Bazaar.

Day 05: Trek from Jhi to Ghyasikharka (1,865m/6,117ft).

Witnessing the views of the Himalayas and wonderful landscapes, you march up ahead towards higher elevation. Although you have to walk for about 7 hours along the rugged trails uphill, you will enjoy it. The scenery around the trail makes you move at a considerably faster. Finally, you end up today’s trek at Ghyasikharka.

Day 06: Trek from Ghyasikharka to Phedi Camp (2,466m/8,088ft).

Adventures awaits today as you will be following the steep uphill trails. Enjoying the spectacular view of the snowcapped peaks and green hills, you walk along the windy trails. At the end of the day, you reach Phedi Camp to take the rest.

Day 07: Trek from Phedi Camp to Odar Camp (3,189m/10,460ft).

you move further from Phedi Camp to Odar Camp. “Odar” is a Nepali word meaning “Cave.” witnessing views of majestic mountains

Day 08: Trek from Odar Camp to Dhaulagiri South Base Camp (4,055m/13,300ft).

Today you will be reach to the Dhalugiri Base Camp though the trip is challenging, the fact that you are reaching the base camp of one of the eight-thousanders keeps boosting you up! the appealing view of the snowy peaks and green environment, you reach Dhaulagiri Base Camp. From the base camp, you will enjoy the breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061m), Churen Himal (7,385m), Gurja Himal (7,193m) Putha Himal (7,246m) and many more.

Day 09: Trek from Dhaulagiri Base Camp to Chare.

By witnessing the sunrise view of the Mountain Giants from Dhaulagiri Base Camp, you begin retreat journey. By following the comparatively easy trail, you walk along Dhaulagiri Sanctuary. You will see some animals and birds playing hide and seek with you. And, you stop today’s trek in Chhari.

Day 10: Trek from Chhari to Dagnam (1,720m/5,642ft).

With the view of snowcapped peaks of Dhaulagiri Massif and Annapurna Massif, you climb down. The journey highlights the biodiversity of Dhaulagiri Sanctuary. Finally, you reach Dagnam, a beautiful village in the Dhaulagiri region.where you will be visiting the local village to witness the local culture.

Day 11: Drive from Dagnam to Beni (830m/2,722ft) Full Board Tea House available.

We will drive back to Beni from Dagnam and stay overnight at Beni

Day 12: Drive from Beni to Kathmandu.

We will drive from Beni to the capital Kathmandu, our journey will be covering Prithivi Highway and follow the River Masyarngri and River trishuli.

Day 13: Spare day. Free for personal activities or additional activities on request.

Today is a rest day where you can chose an activity of your desire or we will provide additional activities on request.

Day 14: Final departure. Drop to airport as per flight schedule.

We will give you a nice farewell and drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu in Nepal.

There are numerous challenges like the rugged terrain, steep slopes, trekking route through stone stairs and continuous walk of 5 to 6 hours per day. That being said, Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek can be done by travelers who are physically and physiologically fit.

Although Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek can be done on Spring (March, April and May) , the best season for trekking Badimalika is during Autumn (October and November). What about altitude Sickness ?

Normally, Within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height(1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, loss of energy, and shortness of breath are seen. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.

Trekking via the local agency is one of the great ideas for trekkers. There are more local trekking organizations in Nepal. The hard part is you need to recognize whether they are authorized businesses and are members of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).
