Introduction

Badimalika Trekking is considered as a one of the remote and less explored trail of Nepal recently launched by Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) as a new trekking trail of Nepal. This trekking trail is in far western region of Nepal inside the Khaptad National Park in Bajura district. Major attractions of the Badimalika Trekking is to explore amazing natural landscapes, explore the wide range of green hills, ethnic cultural villages, several sorts of herbs, prosperous flora & fauna, excellent views of Mt. Api & Saipal.

Explore Badimalika temple which is located top of the mound at 4,200 meters above from sea level. The temple contains massive cultural and religious importance. Hundreds of peoples gathers there on the auspicious occasion to perform worship gods and goddess. As the area is really crucial for their unique and own cultural lifestyles, a visitor can enjoy and observe their different dances like Deuda, Hudkeuli, Thadi and Bhuwo.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) and transfer to Hotel.

Kathmandu welcomes you with panoramic views over the valley, the Himalayas, and terraced fields below. After clearing customs, a representative will guide you through the narrow, winding streets of Kathmandu, getting you settled into your hotel. Once you've settled in, head out and visit one of Kathmandu's cultural highlights. In the evening, the tourist hub of Thamel is a good place to grab your first meal, with a variety of restaurants to choose from offering both Western and local Nepali dishes.

Day 02: Guided tour around world’s Heritage sites of Kathmandu.

Early morning breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will pick you up from the hotel for sightseeing of World Heritage Sites. Actually, there are seven World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu and we arrange sightseeing spots according to your choice, you have to choose only 3/4 spots for a day since it is not possible to visit all places in a single day–at least 2/3 days requires having sightseeing tour of all heritage sites in Kathmandu. World Heritage Sites of UNESCO in Kathmandu are; Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swyambhunath Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Changu Narayan Temple. In the evening we again can have pre-trek discussion.

Day 03: Fly to Dhanghadi and drive to Dadel Dhura (1,745m/5,724ft).

Today you will be flying to Dhangadi , the aerial view from the flight are amazing and after the flight we will drive to Dadeldhura where we will stay for the night.

Day 04: Drive from Dadeldhura to Jadanga (1,167m/3,828ft).

Right after breakfast and a warm welcome from the sunrise, we drive to Sanfe -- a beautiful town with hotels and restaurants in the Achham region of Nepal. From Sanfe, we drive to Jadanga.

Day 05: Trek from Jadanga to Budhakordha (2,263m/7,423ft).

Trekking officially begins from today , We walk uphill through beautiful landscape and arrive at the last settlement of the trail – Budha Krodh.

Day 06: Trek from Budhakordha to Bhitachhina (3,667m/12,028ft).

Beautiful pine forest, rhodendrons greets us through the trails. We first reach Buffalo Kharka for the lunch and continue our trek. We take extra caution (because of rapid altitude gain) as we climb and pass grasslands to arrive at Bhitachhina to call it a day.

Day 07: Trek from Bhitachhina to Triveni (3,840m/12,595ft).

Full Board Tea Houses are not available–Tented Camps

Day 08:Trek from Triveni to Badimalika Temple (4,214m/13,823ft).

The majestic green pastures of grasslands with water tribulets provides a feeling of heaven, after trekking for a while we reach Tribeni – a place of religious significance. where if you wish to you can have a bath and visit the famous Badimalika temple

Day 09: Trek from Badimalika to Dhalpuri Pokhari (2,556m/8,384ft).

We go through Dharmaghar and to Dhalpuri Pokhari. The trail is pretty easy and you will see small forest as we trek to Dhalpuri Pokhari (Lake).

Day 10: Trek from Dhalpuri Pokhari to Lamagada (2,195m/7,200ft).

Today we Trek from Dhalpuri to Lamgada and rest there for the night

Day 11: Trek from Lamagada to Bhansainkharkha (2,480/8,134ft).

Day 12: Trek from Bhansainkharkha to Laskechaur (2,450m/8,036ft).

We reach to Laskechaur passing through amazing landscape mesmerizing views and camp there for the night

Day 13: Trek from Lakechaur to Khaptad (3,063m/10,046ft).

Today will be a dense forest trail leading to Khaptad National Park v. “Khaptad Baba” is very popular and is known as great master having religious and social philosophy in the society.

Day 14: Excursion around Khaptad and Ramaroshan.

Exploring Khaptad visiting the khaptad baba Ashram and the triveni and the pasture land would be the highlight of the day

Day 15: Trek from Khaptad to Silghadi (1,340m/4,395ft).

We trek to Silgadhi – a municipality and districts headquarter of Doti. This is the most developed city in the Doti district. You can get major services & facilities here. There is airpoprt in Dipayal of Silgadhi.

Day 16: Drive from Silgadhi to Dhanghadi.

Today we drive from Silghadi to Dhangadi , the routes are scenic and you would experience the authentic nepali culture

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu.

From Dhangadi we will witness the beautiful Terai Sunrise and fly back to Kathmandu

Day 18: Spare day. Free for personal activities or additional activities on request.

Today is a spare day free for personal activities or addition activities on request can be done

Day 19: Final departure. Drop to airport as per flight schedule.

Today we will conduct a farewell dinner for you where we would share our memories together from the trip and ask for your suggestion and reviews and our team member will drop you at the airport according to your flight schedule

How hard is Badimalika Trekking ?

Badimalika Trekking is considered as a strenuous trek. There are numerous challenges like the rugged terrain, steep slopes, trekking route through stone stairs and continuous walk of 5 to 6 hours per day. That being said, Badimalika Trekking can be done by travelers who are physically and physiologically fit.

Which is the best season for Badimalika Trekking ?

Although Badimalika trekking can be done all time of the year, the best season for trekking Badimalika is during Autumn (October and November). During these season the weather will be clear, you will get long sunlight hours, fewer bugs, flowers will bloom on the way, the charm of the atmosphere can be felt by the heart, magnificent views of the Himalayas can be seen and you can escape the crowd and enjoy the pleasure of trekking.

How high will we ascend during Badimalika Trekking ?

The maximum height we will ascend during this trek is up to Badimalika Temple (4,214m/13,823ft).

Is the Internet accessible during Badimalika Trekking ?

Yes!! The Internet is accessible during Badimalika Trekking. You can access the 3G network on mobile phones. The mobile internet is fast enough to browse and even make video calls. You will get continuous signal during the whole trek but there will be certain dark spots along the trek where connection may drop. There are limited WiFi hotspots during the trek which will charge for usage only some will let you use it for free. So, for internet access we recommend you to buy a SIM and use 3G.

How long will Badimalika Trekking take ?

According to the standard itinerary our Badimalika Trekking is of 19 days from your arrival to Kathmandu to farewell at Airport. If you wish to amend the itinerary you have to contact our booking manager; he will prepare the itinerary according to your needs.

Is it possible to trek Badimalika ?

Yes!! It is possible to trek Badimalika. Badimalika trekking requires stamina and good health conditions. If you are planning to trek without any experience then you can contact us prior to 20 days so that we can guide you through some exercises and diets you should consider for preparation.

Do I need to have Travel Insurance during Trek ?

Yes!! It is recommended to have travel insurance during the trek. It is uncertain that you will not feel sick or get into any accidents during the trek. So, for medical emergencies and as precaution against risks and financial losses that could happen while traveling, insurance is best.

What about altitude Sickness ?

Normally, Within 12-24 hours after ascending a certain height(1,500 to 2,500 meter above sea level) altitude sickness symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, loss of energy, and shortness of breath are seen. In case of any altitude sickness symptoms we will apply medication and descend immediately for acclimatization.

How to select a local agency for trekking?

Trekking via the local agency is one of the great ideas for trekkers. There are more local trekking organizations in Nepal. The hard part is you need to recognize whether they are authorized businesses and are members of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN). You can view their internet site and profiles commonly all legal organizations will upload their profile along with authorities-legal certificates.

What is the Accommodation Like ?
