Nepal constitutes a home to many amazing as well as picturesque lakes of the world. Most of them are of high altitude and glacier feed lakes and located at more than 4,000 meters to act as the best lakes to trek for worldwide trekkers.
Gokyo Lakes remain present in the shadow of Mount Cho Oyu i.e. the sixth highest mountain worldwide and is an amazing high altitude in Nepal. This lake is at the height of 4,700 to 5,000 meters above the level of the sea and constitutes the worldwide highest freshwater lake system. Moreover, Gokyo Lake is within the famous Sagarmatha National park in the Khumbu Glacier region, while it feeds from Ngozumpa Glacier.
The entire Gokyo lake system consists of many lakes, among which you will find 6 prominent ones, which are Thonak Cho, Gokyo Cho or Dudh Pokhari, Tanjung Cho, Gyazumpa Cho, Longbanga Cho, and Ngozumpa Cho. However, the main lake is the Gokyo Cho, as all of the lakes collectively discharge in the Dudh Koshi system.

Tilicho Lake of Nepal is at the height of 4919meters and it has a connection with the famous Annapurna circuit trek. Rara Lake stands at an altitude of 3,010m with a maximum length- of 5.1 km (3.2 mi), a maximum width of 2.7 km (1.7 mi), a Surface area of 1,061 ha (2,620 acres), and a maximum depth of 167 m (548 ft). Gosaikunda Lake is a famous lake of Nepal and it is at the height of about 4380meters in Rasuwa district, which is about 150 kilometers towards the northern region of Kathmandu City. The lake constitutes a pilgrimage site at the time of Janai Purnima. A one-hour short trek from the Gosaikunda Lake will take you to Aama Kunda and Surya Kunda as well as other small lakes in combination with views of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal.
